1. Aryabhatta

Aryabhatta was a great mathematician who is credited with founding Indian mathematics. 2. Srinivasa Ramanujan

Although he had no formal education in pure mathematics, he was still able to include solutions in problems that are often thought to be intractable.

It is believed that Brahmagupta’s formula for cyclic quadrilaterals is his most well-known geometric discovery.

6. Blaise Pascal

Pascal, another famous mathematician, developed the hydraulic press in addition to developing the first iteration of the roulette wheel. He came up with the syringe. He also invented the first mechanical calculator and made early contributions to actuarial science and probability theory. 

7. Alan Turing

British mathematician Alan Turing is revered as the founder of computer science. Turing is recognised as one of the key figures in developing the methods for deciphering the German Enigma cypher during the Second World War. 

8. Charles Babbage

When we talk about famous mathematicians, Charles Babbage’s name is always on the list. Due to his suggestion for the creation of the first mechanical computing equipment, Charles Babbage is regarded as the “father of the computer” in the broadest sense.

9. David Hilbert

David Hilbert - mathematicians

One of his most significant achievements of Hilbert was compiling a renowned group of 23 unsolved puzzles in 1900. The issues would later serve as the model for the entire field’s curriculum during the 20th century.

10. Euclid of Alexandria

The fact that Euler was the first to develop the idea of the function is in and of itself a tremendous accomplishment. He was the first to use “e” to denote the base of the natural logarithm, “I” to denote an imaginary unit, and “sigma” to denote summation. He created the trigonometric equation known as Euler’s formula and the equation 

e^(i*pi) + 1 = 0

that represents Euler’s identity.

During the Cold War, Von Neumann was the first to introduce the idea of mutually assured destruction to the US. He played a significant role in the creation of the digital computer.

13. Pierre-Simon Laplace

His contributions were critical to the advancement of what is now known as Bayesian statistics in statistics. We also acknowledge his contributions to the fields of speed and sound research as well as mathematical astronomy. Laplace was one of the first to suggest that black holes exist due to his interest in astronomy.

14. Carl Friedrich Gauss

A fundamental and important component of contemporary statistics is the Gaussian distribution. Carl Friedrich Gauss created the bell-curve normal distribution. He also contributed to the development of the first electromagnetic telegraph in 1883.

15. William Playfair

Graphical statistics were developed by Scottish engineer William Playfair. The line graph, bar chart, and pie chart were all created by him. The usage of timelines was also pioneered by him.
